Milwaukee School of Engineering or MSOE, is a private university located in downtown Milwaukee, which is the largest city in Wisconsin state, USA, serving as the county seat of Milwaukee County, also being US' 26th most populous city and the 39th most populous region, it population being approximated at a number of more than 605 000 inhabitants, during the 2009 census estimate.
The school was established in 1903 and was founded by Oscar Werwath, first starting as the School of Engineering of Milwaukee. It presently offers its students a number of 17 bachelor's and 10 master's degree programs, as well as double major options, dual degree programs and international study programs.
MSOE's athletic teams are nicknamed the Raiders and they compete in NCAA Division III, in the Northern Athletic Conference, for most sports. Their distinctive colors are red and white, and their mascot is Roscoe Raider (pirate).
Among MSOE's noteworthy alumni, we also find: Larry A. Schotz - inventor of the car radio adapter for CD players, and Philip F. Labre - inventor and patent holder of the American version of the grounded plug (the three-prong plug).
